Lucky bastard :p:p
Well.. not that lucky after all.
The extended warranty insurance thing they offered me, declined the repair - and written on the very last page of their folder - they write that they do not cover timing belts, timing chain and accessoires.

Fortunately I complained about noise from the engine back in December, and I found that email - Opel offered me a 50% discount on the repair after a talk this morning.

Sadly been duped by this update too. Never any any engine issues with the car and always look after it with DPF/engine cleaners and oil treatments. Took the car in for it, got the update and immediately noticed reduction in power and acceleration. I got in the motorway two days later and it took aged to get up to 70 with lengthy revs between gears. 1.6 2016 diesel. Soon after, trying to rev to build speed the engine light came on. I called them up and arranged for it to be booked in to thurlow nunn Luton. They charged me a 100 diagnostic fee and told me the emissions regulator valve needs replacing and that it's nothing to do with the update - of course. They wanted 400 for the valve and couldn't be less interested that the car was running perfectly before they did the update. Currently got an open complaint with vauxhall, who thus far, seem to just be asking the technician at thrulow nunn for his opinion. I've told them not acceptable and there's no way I'm having that. Await the outcome. Bunch of absolute fraudsters.

Disgusting VX do this update and then say something has gone (or rather something has been forced to go) on your car. Clearly update not good for the car and screwing emissions right down so car underperforms . And at the end of the day VX are to blame so they don’t get caught up in this emissions battle. As to update being irreversible, what a load of crap ! Flash the ecu back to standard ? Tuning companies can do this so VX certainly can. The cheek of asking a customer to pay for something that has gone after the vehicle has been updated is beyond me , how do they get away with it .

As I'd previously stated I think the update was done to meet Vauxhalls previous emission claim standards,
doesn't seem to be helping the economy or reliability of this engine, though.
When I previously owned a 2016 1.6d, my car would average one regen every two to three weeks, based on 10k a year, covered. I also averaged 56mpg long term.
This was prior to the ECU update being available.

I also experienced problems with regen etc. after the infamous update. It ups the EGR cycles, and uses it much more. I had the EGR cooler changed shortly after.
Also noticed lower mpg and regen 3-4 times pr. tank.

Lastly I had all four injectors ultrasoundcleaned as one of them where overfueling, resulting in the massive regen cycle and bad mpg.
I went from roughly 18 km/l to 20,5 km/l after the clean. And only one to pay for that.. me.

I also regret having the update done. It has cost a lot of headaches, fighting with the dealer and so on. And all they say is that nothing is wrong.. well..until you show up with a faulty engine and they can charge you.

Why would anyone do the update to lose power instead of join the mass emissions claim and sit tight for the 1-2k payout.
It'll be interesting to see whether or not Stellantis do make a pay out or not.
I've owned around 4 previous Astra diesels, as yet I've not registered a claim, as we are not sure at this point whether any would be successful.

They inevitably will, but it will be in a good 2-3 years. Writing is on the wall.

Leigh Day were quick to contact me after the VW settlement asking for even more detailed info on my car, more details than what I provided a few months back.

Yes it did happen with VW, but I'm not sure with regards to Vauxhall/Stellantis, no doubt time will tell.

The emissions update speaks for itself.
It doesn't mean to say they had a cheat device fitted, just means their emissions were not as they'd previously stated, reason for the recall. Whether this would be enough for law firms to gain compensation, I'm not sure. As we know these type firms try to sue for absolutely everything, does not always mean that they'll be successful.

It's an important buying factor. It is a cheat device, because the ECU has been setup to lie about what's actually happening. Hence they are desperate to get every car setup with new ECU software that tells the truth, which is causing many cars to fall apart fast, essentially sacrificing the reliability for legal reasons. I'd suggest anyone who's had one of the diesel ks sign up, doesn't cost a thing and is simple to do.

Hello, today I saw that my Astra k 1.6 cdti 2016 needs to be recalled, when I called local dealership they told me that it has something to do with "emissions ". They didn't tell me more about, only thing I know is that it has something to do with updating software (ECU I guess). Did anyone else have same recall as I do? Will this affect engine performance or fuel fuel consumption? Does anyone know anything about this recall? I tried finding more about it on forums but I only found this thread New Astra recall for engine emissions tweaking . Thanks in advance.
Where can you see if it needs to be recalled? I drive a 67 reg Astra. My UK reg is FP67PHJ and VIN is W0VBF6EK8JG046565.

@Valer no recalls on mine is there? I'm currently on holiday in turkey and all websites seem to be blocked on hotel WiFi hahaha

Yours shows the diesel ecm updates (both closed)
and that it's covered for
E191900750: Timing Chain Tensioner (expires 9/1/26)
E191904430: Astra K - Tail Lamp (expires 9/1/28) seems strange as that's 10 years not the usual 5 🤷‍♂️
E191900151 Astra-K Blower Motor Connector (expires 9/1/28)

Cheers mate.

Are these my outstanding recalls that I haven't done? Or are these recalls that have been completed, meaning there are no longer any outstanding recalls?

In regards especially to E191900750, I'm assuming this is the recall where it will onl
y be done with a full dealer service history?
