So basically. Do not get the update?

From what I've read apart from the fuel consumption being more accurate. The engine is sluggish with more regens. At the moment my car chooses to do regens at the end of a 3 hour drive once I'm in towns and off motorways.

I have a service and mot coming up. Was going to book at Vauxhall due to it being cheapest (book my garage) but may avoid?

I dont know if it is negatively affecting the car, and some of the reports might be subjective, but i have never read someone saying that it made their car better or have better MPG.

This is where the "You know what you have, you are unsure what you are going to get" should make you just keep it as is.

I received 2 letters from Vauxhall, urging me to get the car into a shop and "fixed" but it seems they have stopped now, and i am not going to use vauxhall at all, out of fear they might upgrade my car even if i tell them specifically to NOT do it.

iv only just seen this post ...if i had seen it befor... mabe i wouldnt have had my car done ...BUT... i have to say i dont no what they did ...but i have not seen or felt any changes to the car its still the same to drive as it always was ...my car is a vauxhall astra k 2016 estate... i hope this helps..

So.. my Astra has been in for the last couple of days. To no help at all. They state that it functions as it should, and that it is 510 km since last regen.
Funny thing is that it did a regen yesterday morning before delivering it at Opel.

So they don't know sh*t about what is going on, or even know how to use their own diagnostic tools.

Next step is to visit a tuner, to either a) have them flash an older version, or b) have it optimized

Had a talk with the workshop manager at the dealer.
Turns out their so-called expert on this engine doesn't know what to look for.

He got red ears when I told him (after he showed me a printout of the datalog), that the soothlevel was 51% after 40 kms - and not 510 km as they claimed.
Apparantly that made him listen to what I had to say, and not trying to make stupid excuses for not taking me serious.

So... to be continued.

A little update.
I talked with a different workshop manager yesterday, after I send them an email about my frustrations after the NOx update and their lack of dialog.

He told me, that there is a different software version available, but it requires that they have the car for a couple of days.
In short it should fix the excessive amounts of regen and load on injectors.
Before they're allowed to update to the other version, they are required to do a measurement of fuelconsumption and fuelreturn.

I'll give an update hopefully mid-next week.

The info i have says the original recall E172109770 has now expired and replaced with E222115460
although it just says software update for Improvement of the Lean NOx Trap (LNT) aftertreatment system no mention of any other measurements

Hmm.. strange. But he did say that it had something to do with excessive catalytic activity after the update.
And apparently Opel required them to do the fuel measurements.
When was it replaced ? I had mine updated start October last year.

So quite new. My guess is they've had to many complaints and had to refine the software.
But anyways - as long as it solves my problems.
I wonder if they would still install the "old" update if someone went in for the update "today"

I never had it done, but i guess that if i showed up and said "I got a letter (Several months ago) you need to update the car"....Would they do the "old" or the "new" update.

If they would still push the old one and wait until i complained about lower MPG and excessive regen, i would not bother, but if they would install the new one right away, and it was actually better, i would maybe do it.

As I understand from Valer, the old one is obsolete now - and has been replaced.
So they should install the new version regardless.

I wonder why they then want to go through all of that testing before installing it on your car then. ?

Hoping they end up installing it, and you can give a report, if the new version is better than the old one, and possibly even so good, that it's "like before it was updated the first time"

Delivered the car this morning. Asked him if it was the one released on the 14th. And it should be.
But the papers they got requires them to do fueltesting before installing.

Apparently it is not a release that is easy to find - what I was told was, that they had to do som digging in their system to locate it. If it's BS or not.. well.. 🤷‍♂️

My 2018 Astra has been recalled. It’s a 1.6 diesel.
recall code is:E222115640 Insignia A, Astra K, Astra J, Corsa E - Improvements towards Real Driving Emissions (RDE) for LNT vehicle.

i purchased this car a week ago. It’s also triggered a warning light on the dashboard.

dealer has offered a refund or to get the car diagnosed by Vauxhall.

what would you guys suggest refund for the car or fix

Ask the dealer if the car has the upgraded timing chain components.

If it has, get it diagnosed but not updated, if it does not, avoid it as you risk having a large repair bill down the road to have the chain, guides, tensioner and possibly even the sprockets replaced.

Very costly repair as it is an engine out, gearbox off, operation.

Just my opinion.

I have not read the entire thread yet.....but thought I would mention that I got the letter months ago about this recall and was going to get it done, but thought would just check the old google to see if there was any known issues after the update was done first.......so because of some issues mentioned on here I decided NOT to bother getting the update.

The one thing that worried me was someone mentioned that a MOT might not be able to be done IF it shows as a outstanding recall.

Well I just had my car MOT'd and passed WITHOUT having this firmware update done.

I am in UK, and have a 1.6 CDTi 66 plate Astra (110 BHP version).
assuming by your reply I’m assuming you ignored the emissions recall and were still able to get a MOT done ? My MOT is due next year and not sure I want to get the update after reading this forum ! I emailed the dealer I just recently got my car off and they said that they checked emissions on MOT and everything were fine and in line with the legal limits

so I’m assuming I could maybe ignore the recall and should be fine to get MOT done next year without getting this “update”

Haven't got my car back - other things emerged when they had it in.
I had complained about a sound at a certain rpm. So now it's in for a chain replacement (also)
Is this the cam chain....And if yes, is this something they pay for or do you need to pay for this ?

If this is the cam chain replacement it is a very costly repair.
