Android auto isn't working well....wanna know if a new version would help
That is the one i had.mrtailorson_ said:i just checked the version of my intellilink r 4.0 and apparently it is one of the oldest (from 2015 | 1.12.52)

Someone claime dthat they had 1.36.2.6 with a datocode mid 2018mrtailorson_ said:so what is the latest version as of 04/2020?
Version 36.2.5?
at this stage i will pay. that's ok.astraowner said:It will cost you, but there will be a lot of bugs fixed.
I have seen the TSB they use when updating, it clearly states that they should get the latest version from Vauxhall servers.mrtailorson_ said:at this stage i will pay. that's ok.astraowner said:It will cost you, but there will be a lot of bugs fixed.
but it appears that the dealers don't seem to have an idea about the versions. i called 5 of them (in istanbul) and asked a simple question: "can you update my unit to 36.2.5? i want the latest version. no less" all replied the same "bring the car in. we'll connect it to diagnostics and see"
this means they will most probably update to whatever version they have at hand...thus a lot of headache for me :x as i don't wanna pay €70 and get an older version
this is the kind of headache i am talking about...and opel is notorious here for their awful aftersales service no matter where you are in the country. even if you beat their service guy with a club he will still be playing the same tune through his remaining teethastraowner said:I have seen the TSB they use when updating, it clearly states that they should get the latest version from Vauxhall servers.
That being said, mine had the oldest version, an the first time they updated it (And was unable to finish the update, making the radio screen upside down and with chevrolet logos) they had put in version 2.
Oldest 1, and now i know of 6 versions,
So they went from version 1 to 2 and i asked for atleast version 5, and specifically stated that if there were newer versions to give me the latest.
Version 6 had to be out by the time i had this done, mid 2019, but still the buffoons gave me version 5 and not 6.
i really did not think of this head unit update ordeal when i was buying the car. i naïvely thought it will work no matter the version of carplay/android auto. well, it did work...only for 3⅓ years. so it appears it is one of those schemes to milk the customer.astraowner said:This should just never have been an issue, LG that developed the firmware had implemented firmware over the air and the radio has all the needed hardware to do this, but vauxhall opted to make the firmware only updateable by them.
I have seen nothing to suggest that even the 2020+ radio models that they install in new cars now, are any different.
No android auto wireless
No OTA firmware update
It is really piss poor that they have not implemented this even in 2020.
Yeah, and the worst part is that they are clearly lying through their teeth as well.mrtailorson_ said:this is the kind of headache i am talking about...and opel is notorious here for their awful aftersales service no matter where you are in the country. even if you beat their service guy with a club he will still be playing the same tune through his remaining teeth
It should not be an issue at all. The radio has wifi hardware, in the earlier versions you could find a wifi menu in the service menu, it would detect my home wifi, when i was parked in the driveway and it would connect.mrtailorson_ said:i really did not think of this head unit update ordeal when i was buying the car. i naïvely thought it will work no matter the version of carplay/android auto. well, it did work...only for 3⅓ years. so it appears it is one of those schemes to milk the customer.
Do you still have Android Auto connection issues with latest Google Android Auto app after updated main unite?astraowner said:Yeah, and the worst part is that they are clearly lying through their teeth as well.mrtailorson_ said:this is the kind of headache i am talking about...and opel is notorious here for their awful aftersales service no matter where you are in the country. even if you beat their service guy with a club he will still be playing the same tune through his remaining teeth
When my Zafira began making noises from the gearbox i asked around and was told that this was an extremely well known problem, with some of the bearings being to small, not able to take the load and poor lubrication of these bearings.
I took it to vauxhall, asked them to diagnose it, they came back saying that it was the gearbox, i told them that i knew this was a very common problem, but he still said that he had never heard about that before and they did not consider it a common problem and refused to do anything towards the price of repairing it.
I always meet these people with the thought that they are lying and trying to cheat me., this keeps me on my toes when they try to feed me bullshit. The internet is a great ressource to be knowledgeable enough to not take the bullshit.

All the needed hardware was there, it was a conscious decision by vauxhall to NOT include this feature.
When i had the radio partially upgraded, with the screen upside down, and chevrolet branding, it even had a "Check for new firmware" menu and a wifi menu.
When i connected to my wifi and pressed "Check for updates" it said "You have the latest version available" My guess is that it tried to connect to the upgrade server, they never set it up, and the firmware was programmed to say "you have the latest version" if it failed to connect to the server.
So all they had needed was to make these menu's available and set up a server with the firmware, and it COULD have been made to upgrade this way, making any concern about firmware a non issue.
Mobile phones has been able to do OTA updates for over 10 years and when the firmware was first developed in 2014/2015 almost all of my kit was updateable via the internet.
But not vauxhall.
I bet they did it like that to force people to pay the garages and vauxhall to do it.
Right now i dont care, the radio in my car works fine and 50% of the time it just does FM radio and the other 50% is android auto, and here it is google that updates the experience.
Radio's in the future will probably become little more than screens for the content on our phones, and at that time, firmware will not be an issue on these.
After the update i have no issues and have never had any issues.Yasin.Dogan said:Do you still have Android Auto connection issues with latest Google Android Auto app after updated main unite?
You have the oldest available firmware, from 2015welderchon said:I have un Astra ST 2016 the versión 1.12.5.2. how and what to do to update? Which version I need to install? Can i do myself and where download files? Please Help!
if i may add to the list the most annoying problem gone with the update:astraowner said:The unit can be updated, and the upgrade will fix numerous problems like.
1. Individual volume sliders for phone/navigation/radio
2. Radio will not forget RDS names on saved FM channels
3. Android Auto will connect every time without problems...With 2015 firmware, most times you get a black screen.
Yes, that and the ability to have android auto, just lower the music volume when giving spoken directions on the navi, instead of just muting, is also nice.mrtailorson_ said:if i may add to the list the most annoying problem gone with the update:astraowner said:The unit can be updated, and the upgrade will fix numerous problems like.

now the radio does not come back on when the navigation speaks directions! thank god!
one can now drive in tranquility with the exception of hearing directions.
