Have you any idea as to what they exactly replaced to rectify it?

 

As i didn't have to pay anything I wasn't given a receipt, the receptionist did read out a list of parts replaced & checked, she did say master cylinder & slave cylinder, those were the ones I wanted to hear but she did also mention something about brake pipes.

 

It makes me laugh (or cry anyway) why should service history (or mileage come to that)
affect a free repair on what is a known fault with the potential movement of particles getting into the braking system and causing accidents ?
They took it seriously enough to change suppliers on some of the parts
so imo It should have been a safety recall full stop.

I agree Valer. In my opinion, as I have commented on here before it was the difference between it not affecting the brakes on the petrol engines as it did the diesel engines. If I recall correctly we had vauxhall's safety department join the forum and start a Thread on it, encouraging owners to get it done foc.

 

Dang! My 2018 1.6t did this for the first time yesterday. Got in the car and the clutch pedal was to the floor. manually moving it back to its normal spot and then pumping it a few times sorted it and I could drive home. I will give Vauxhall a call today!

 

Hey - did you get anywhere with this? I've been having the same issues and have today been quoted for a new engine on a 17 plate!

 

This is happing on my 1.4 turbo petrol clutch sticks to the floor they saying its air in the system and still happing and help would be great it 68 plate 3900m

Hi I have 65plate Astra 1.4 turbo elite and my clutch pedal has stuck down 3 times now. Parked it OK, came back and the pedal is to the floor. Had to pull it up manually each time and try it few times before car would start and put into gear. Happened today again, Going OK now , but noticed I had stopped the engine without using the key and it jerked to a stop. Wondered if this had anything to do with it. Hugh

 

Hi all, having the exact same issue with my 1.4L 2018 Vauxhall Astra. Bought it 2nd hand off someone in April and been having the issue so many times with the clutch sticking and me having to put my foot underneath it to lift it out again so I can change gear. Causing lots of agg during traffic as sometimes have to turn my car on and off again to get into gear.

Spoke to 2 mechanics who cannot find out what is wrong with it. One of them mentioned there was a recall for this model but I called a dealership and they said they can’t see a recall for this car on their system.

Getting a 3rd opinion from another mechanic very soon so will update this thread if I finally find out what the issue is.

 

No recall but theres a service bulletin, contact a Vauxhall dealer or do what I did & contact Vauxhall customer services

 

Because of the Service bulletin, Vauxhall told
me to take it to my local dealer & depending on service history & mileage it would be done free or at a reduced price.

 

Hi had same problem with my 2018 Astra turbo, checked the recall register with the cars VIN which showed no recall. Took it to our local AA approved garage who replaced the clutch, slave, and master cylinders as the research advised, and all good now.... cost me £1200 though...ouch.

 

Completely agree! If it’s a known fault with safety implications, service history or mileage shouldn’t matter. If they took it seriously enough to change suppliers, it should’ve been a full recall, not just selective repairs.

 

I've been experiencing this issue on and off for a while now and it's annoyed me enough to do something about it now 😅 the car runs perfectly other than that it's a 67 plate 1.6 turbo Sri. Using the advice above I've contacted Vauxhall customer service and opened a case with them. I'll keep you all updated when I hear anything.
