If you go back to my 1st post, and open the link to the German forum, google will translate it. It will give you an insight into the journey I took fining the parts.

On eBay, you might need to widen your search terms a little. Took me a long while to find the right parts when the German links went down.

Look for the Chevy part, or the Grandland X part too. If I get time I'll see if I can find one.

Hi, Just bought a 2019 Astra K and I found the thread. I`ll see how I can manage to get the double USB part to switch it cause atm I only have the single USB.

While browsing I`ve found an USB hub with external power option.

What about using this hub and powering it also from the lighter ? Would it be possible ? It`s a micro-usb and it should be able to charge via a lighter charger an normally it will be able to provide enough charge even for the MY2016 ones that only provide 500mA

Would it cause any other problems ?

The main issue you'll face is that the car port is actually a hub. This means that when you connect a second hub CarPlay stops working. I can't tell you if that the same for Android but is the reason I researched and did the mod.

Hi guys, thanks to this great forum I'm currently modding my MY2017 (January 2017) Astra K Sports tourer (although it's an Opel since I'm from Netherlands).

I've taken out the original part from the center armrest which has a single USB and no aux. The USB cable slides in just fine, and the other connector (which has just 2 wires, 12V and GND I suppose) fits as well. BUT, my phone doesn't do anything when connected. Swapped it out for the original part and that works flawlessly. I don't know what to do from here, the eBay guy hasn't been any help.

Took me a while, where's the spare time once you have kids right?

Ok, so my pen drive lights up blue when hooked up to the original 1x USB port. Also when I put it in the 2x USB charge only in the back. The 2x USB + AUX part that I received does nothing with the pen drive once hooked up to the 12v 6pin plug, also no dice when I hook it up to the 12v 6pin that drives the back 2x USB chargers. Can I safely conclude that the part that I received is defective?

Does anyone know what USB port I can buy that charges the phone?

Mine isn't powerful enough to charge my Samsung. I've seen a few posts before regarding this, think it was the insignia port or a double port? Where can I buy this does anyone have a link?

You need what the poster in the first post has bought.

Look through this thread, it should contain the GM spare part numbers to search for, then go to ebay or similar sites and do a search.

I bought a dual USB and AUX socket via ebay some time ago, it works fine. I have a USB stick that can be put in between the phone and the car to measure amperage, and the old one would only charge at 500mA but the new one easily goes to 1500mA

That is the difference between just barely keeping the battery percentage and actually charging the phone.

Has anyone suggested a powerbank?

They're very useful for charging (phones etc) on the go, I have a couple of RAVPower powerbanks I've purchased from Amazon when on offer.

Once they're fully charged, they can last for quite some time, and are cost effective.

I don't know what use that would be Fred? My investigation for this mod was to enable dual USB for CarPlay that gave USB at the same time. The charging is an additional bonus. The rear ports would be for charging only?

Hi guys.. I've just been through this thread as I want to do this mod but I'm not sure it's possible on my motor ..I have a Astra k 2017 eco flex .. on my center console there is only one USB and no AUX input.. and I really need an AUX input aswell as one (or two USB) my question is " is it possible to add the double USB and AUX unit ..even the single USB and AUX input unit" .. and as I don't currently see a "AUX" in the input select on the infotainment screen would this appear after I'd add the new unit.. would really appreciate any help on this... Ps no matter which cable I use to connect my Samsung galaxy S10+ to the existing USB port it disconnects very often ,the usb plug doesn't like even the smallest bump on the road.. thanks in advance Marty

Hi Marty,

From memory, I think the AUX menu item isn't available if you don't have a device plugged in to the port, which you obviously can't do right now. Best advice I can give on that front is to remove the back panels of the armrest/console and look to see if the AUX header plug is in there? I believe it should be attached to the USB already (might be folded over and taped off near the handbrake).

Some models didn't have the wiring and others did. It's going to be pot luck on where the car was assembled and which looms were available.

Hi Ant and thanks for the incredibly fast response !.. I have just looked and can see the two plugs connected to the unit..one being the usb and the second only has two wires in it .. would those two wires be just the power for the existing USB port ....I think I seen someone else's picture and it had more wires ... It's not looking good then.... If I could somehow look at the very back of the built in stereo/audio unit maybe it has and aux socket ....I'm clutching at straws now I guess... Marty
