Yes, I've noticed that as well.

Although I have the 'Intellilux', I'm guessing VX / Opel would probably use the same sensor for those as they would for standard lights (after all it's only darkness / light / rain you're trying to detect), the type of lights should be immaterial.

The other day, a Merc and a BMW, both with HID / xenons, followed me in and out of a couple of tunnels and each car's lights turned on and off more or less when mine did (assuming they had automatic lights!)

I think it´s written in the manual too, that when the wipers are working maybe 3 or 5 times in one period the sensor switch on the lights.

In the rain yes, but why when using windshield washer :D just a bug

But what you are discussing is not a problem, just a nuisance.

A problem would have been that they don't turn on when needed. Is it so bad to know that your headlights are working or is the small green symbol in the instrument cluster so horrible to look at?
Can't help wondering if many here at this forum try to find non existing faults in the cars to give the brand bad reputation or what is the point of this?

If you don't like a car that aims for safety and technology, buy a Dacia...

I dont mind it too much. Only thing is that when the lights dont go off in the daylight, the brightness of the displays does not adjust.

And yeah always better to have lights on. I was even asking the dealer if they can set my back lights to be turned on with daylights.

on My Navi 900 there is a possibility to set the brightness of the displays manually without any relation with daylights.

and don´t write nothing about back lights or Mr. Figgz will attack you to buy the new Megane, they got them turned on with daylights :D

I´m not sure if you observe, but you´re in a forum where some people are asking and another people are answering. So I was only asking if there is a possibility to...

Until now this discussion was held in a very friendly atmosphere. Yes, for me it´s bad when my lights are on if it´s not necessary. It has an influence on their lifetime, on battery, on fuel consumtion, on everything. And the daylight are there to be used during the day, right? And if I need the frontlights to be on, there is a manual possibility to turm then on.

My previous car was Astra, now I got Astra (voluntary - believe me) And I really don´t think that our discuss here will affect the brand reputation :D

Hi

I would guess the software is only looking for rain on the windscreen and it cannot tell the difference between you cleaning the windows and rain.

Cheers

Hi.

Probably yes :)
I think it would take like 1 line of code added to avoid it, so it may change in future.

But i really dont mind it, just saying.

I contacted Vauxhall they say there is a problem ie blue sky syndrome I have had my sensors replaced but still have a problem
Did you replace the Light sensor?
Do you know if it is simple/fast process?
Do they replace the entire thing that is glued to the windscreen?

Main dealer replaced the sensors but they came on in a tunnel then wouldn't go off again my problem is I find it very hard to see the dash when it comes in bright sunlight Vauxhall say they are working on it and to enquire again in a few months. zNot very helpful!!!!!

Well said, Yogi83, I couldn't agree more!! :)

There is a fine line between what could be described as either a problem or a nuisance - essentially, we're straying in to semantics.

Nonetheless, if the lights don't turn off when you think they should, then there is a problem with the sensor and its reactivity, especially when you notice other makes of cars appear to be functioning perfectly satisfactorily in this regard.

Certainly, in the UK, it used to be illegal to pull over (ie, park) and keep your headlights on (unsure as to whether it still is). However, there could be circumstances where this could happen with this sensor if you keep your engine running. The authorities in the UK are hot enough on the motorist as it is without adding to one's problems!!

Just saying!

I have the same problem.
Every time I leave home in the morning, if it is sunny outside, lights dont turn off.
i go all the way to work with lights on, and Dashboard almost unreadable.
Same answer from Opel.... no help...

Well, why don't you just turn them off if it concerns you so much, that's what I do you only have to turn the light switch.

That is really the only way.
Besides that, you also have to switch the Intellink settings to day, because it also switchs to night mode, and its unreadable in daylight. At night, you have to manually dim down the brightness, or switch to night mode. Reverse it the next day.

The central display has no workarround, it always switchs to night.... Unreadable by day.

I believe it might be software. When its on, if i turn off/on the Car... goes correctly to lights Out... until next bridge or tunnel.

I've just had my windscreen taken out and put back in. They took it to Vauxhall to have the camera recalibrated. My lights seem to be ok now. They don't come on when it's a bit cloudy.

I have my display set permanently on night mode its much better than the daylight setting.

I've just had a software update and the automatic lights now work perfectly, just wanted to give you guys a heads up.
Hi

Are these the intelilux lights or the normal ones? I had a 1.4T (125) Energy as a hire car this week and the normal lights on this one worked perfectly unlike my own car.

Cheers

Paul
