How to take park brake out of service mode?

Post by Mifadk70 » Tue Feb 11, 2020 6:03 pm

I found the below guide to set park brake in service mode, but how to take the park brake out of service mode again?
(Manual method)

Set the park brake in service mode.
Manual Method
1.1. Change the transmission gear to neutral or park position.
1.2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
1.3. Press brake pedal several times until brake booster vacuum is empty.
1.4. Press the brake pedal and press the park brake switch until the orange park brake lamp begins to flash.
By keeping the brake pedal applied, release and re-press the park brake switch for approximately 5 seconds.
1.5. Release the brake pedal. The orange park brake lamp extinguishes for a moment after which the rear brake calipers are retracting.

Regards
Michael

Quoting from someone else on this site but not sure who:

“After the pad change you'll also need to re-set out of service mode
Manual Method
14.1. Change the transmission gear to neutral or park position.
14.2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
14.3. Press the brake pedal and pull the park brake switch until the orange park brake lamp extinguishes and the rear brake calipers are extending.
14.4. Release the brake pedal”

Did it last week worked a treat! Hope this helps.

Do you think it will work on a Insignia B or 2nd gen as well? I believe it's the same brakes.

Not sure, I can't see why Vauxhall would want to change the process for cars of the same age.
If the putting them into service mode is the same I would hazard a guess that taking it out of service mode would work the same.

Also worth saying, when in service mode you don't need to spin the piston. It just needs to be pushed directly backwards into the calliper.

Thanks AstraMaster. Makes sense when you know the procedure. I can't understand Turkish.
