Astra 150 clutch problem

Post by Alt150 » Tue Dec 03, 2019 3:36 pm

Hi I broke down the other day driving along in 2nd and try to go into 3rd and it refused the clutch then bottomed out didn’t lift then the engine management light came on so I pulled over and the car wouldn’t start again aa came to the rescue and a diagnosis showed an error code p08a8 and that is clutch pedal sensor? He wiped the errors and it started and drove again but the aa guy said it was a common issue with these and it’s a recall and that the master cylinder would need changing? I can’t seem to find much info on it has anyone else had this issue and what did Vauxhall do about it? Any info would be great

Sure the recall was the diesels.

My clutch pedal stuck down for a while but seemed to fix itself. Happened two maybe three times.

This is the first symptom that happens on the Diesel Astra as Scotty has suggested.
Happened to my 1.6CDti and Vauxhall took the car for a day and replaced the brake master cylinder and brake lines - something to do with contaminated fluid in the system. Car was just over a year old and I had done 20k miles at the time.

Hi thanks for the input I heard back from Vauxhall’s yesterday and seems it’s the same issue as the diesels the clutch has been putting pressure on the crank And caused excessive movement they are changing the clutch flywheel and cylinders along with a new engine

Seems mad not to. Mine was around £220. Worth it for some peace of mind.

Trouble is you’ll have to go to them to change the oil for at least £200 a time..

I very much agree! I had the first service done as it was free and have serviced myself ever since. I've easily saved £1500 if you listen to the oil life indicator for servicing by now anyways. Luckily my astra has been trouble free since day 1.

I personally think if it happens out of warranty they will cover it it’s a major flaw due to there parts I just hope the parts going back in are updated and this won’t happen again it’s only 15k miles in and this happens. I said to myself after my vectra I wouldn’t buy another Vauxhall but I did silly me!
