1.4L 150BHP Any one done big miles?

Post by Geordie- boy » Sun Nov 10, 2019 6:52 pm

Hi guys and girls, has any one done big miles in there 1.4 turbo? if so how many and what issues if any have you had, just wondering what issues (apart from the famous but hopefully cured piston issues) i have to look forward to if i keep it for a good few years. some of you must have done some big miles by now?

46k

- Engine rebuild due to goosed pistons
- Multiple replacement tyre valves
- TPMS malfunctioning in driver's side rear
- Lock cover on door handle fell off
- Clutch pedal stuck down but sorted itself out
- Paint-chips galore

There's probably stuff I'm forgetting.

24k miles. only just had corroded alloys replaced so far. Fingers crossed then for a trouble free future although what ever car I have i will encounter a few issues.

47,000 miles on a 66 plate.
Two faults -
Slow puncture NSF, nff with TPMS, tyre seal blamed -- still deflates but much slower.

Rear washer did not spray, pump ran and emptied reservoir. No water in passenger footwell.
Broken pipe fitting found and replaced in rear hatch.

General car condition OK, but it had a hard life before I bought it below list for age/mileage.
Has slight scrape on NSF bumper - hard to spot but might need a proper repair one day.
Had to buy a space saver spare (hate the tyre muck).
Fuel economy good at around 45mpg. Nice to drive, good radio/hands free, plenty of go (125bhp) if needed.
Happy with it so far.

Well not big miles, still on the lower side.
53k kms/ 33k miles, car is from late 2016.

Only issues so far are windshield that scratches too easily and thing paint that chips off easily. I've had to polish my windshield and do some paint touch ups a couple of times so far.

Mechanics and electronics all work normally, no engine issues so far.

36.5k miles or so, I would agree with the above comment that the paint's not the greatest, but that has nothing to do with it being the 1.4 150HP...
I've taken it for a software update on the infotainment screen, otherwise it's had normal services (I was always sure to make certain they knew about the right oil/ECU updates..) and I haven't really had any issues.

Does it still have that infamous hesitation? Yeah. I've been aware of it from early on, so I'm basically careful never to lug the engine..
