Dexos2 Oil Life on 1.4T

Post by Rob111gb » Thu Nov 07, 2019 10:28 pm

Just to see if this normal or me being pedantic?
I checked the oil level today, which was at the Max level (ideal as it was serviced @ 15000 miles in September) Now at 17200 miles the oil is jet black, I was expecting it to be a little dirty but as bad as what it is.
I’ve done an oil change after 20k on my Corsa and it seems cleaner. Only thing I can think it would be is to keep emissions lower and it dumps the nasty stuff in the oil.

Anyways, is it a normal thing for the oil to be so black so quickly?

Hi rob
Yes totally normal , I purchased my 1.6t 3 months ago and was unsure as to what Micky mouse oil had been put in by independent franchise so changed it after about 100 miles and it was black already. Agree other cars in my lifetime have had cleaner oil so you could be right about the emissions thing.

By the way it should have Dex 1 gen 2 oil in , just check with dealer.

Is the 1.6 a diesel?
If so, that is normal for a diesel, but not for a petrol car.
