Engine revs up when foot on clutch

Post by Craigdavid » Sat May 18, 2019 8:55 am

Hi, I have mk5 Astra 1.6 petrol 2007. When change gear the revs are at 2000 and I put my foot on the clutch to change the revs go up 2500 for a split second. Does anyone know what might cause this.

Isn’t that normal since you are taking the load off the engine by disconnecting the gearbox and wheels?

It may have something to do with rev matching? Mine does it if I pretend to coast and take longer changing gear, either up or down. The car seems to know what gear you're in, because of the Shift indicator, so I assume the gearbox and engine ECU are talking to one another. The car also knows you've got the clutch in as the Autostop switch at the top of the pedal travel is pressed in.

I really wish technical docs were available for this car cause I love the tech in it!
