Ignition live location

Post by UKTog » Tue May 14, 2019 8:19 pm

OK so I've added a 12v socket and USB ports into the boot, all works perfectly fine but they're currently a permanent live connection, normally this wouldn't be an issue but they have power LEDs on them, so I was wondering if there is an easy to locate ignition live either behind the removable panel on the left hand side (preferred) or anywhere else in the boot that I could wire a relay up to?

Thanks guys

Hello, ignition plus you get from the 12 V socket in the center console. It is the purple cable.

Thanks, do you know if that is the closest to the boot?

Morning,The next one probably not, in the boot you will definitely find something. There are still the ECUs, but there would be no power to this not to influence.

It’s very easy to access the wiring for the centre console power socket, simply remove the panel on the driver’s side of the centre console (by driver's left foot) by pulling from the rearmost section (its forward section pushes into a recess moulded into the soundproofing at the firewall) It’s an accessory feed so not second stage or live while cranking. You’ll see the wiring loom going up by the metal bracket.

behind the (left) removable panel or anywhere else in the boot
:? :? :?
Why is everyone pointing the centre console?
He asked for an ignition live point in the back of the car.

If you can name it a safe ignition plus rear that does not belong to any ECU, that would be very interesting.

Surely running a wire is simple enough.
