06 Astra 1.4 Losing Power & Warning Light

Post by PurpleStar » Sat Jan 12, 2019 2:20 pm

I own a 2006 1.4 petrol astra, had it from new and it has 104k miles on the clock. Last night i had been driving for around 10 minutes and was approaching a roundabout so i slowed and changed down to 2nd gear. When i accelerated the engine lost power but then it came back. A few minutes later I stopped at lights and changed into 1st and the car revved on its own for a minute. I turned into a road and was doing 30 when it lost power and the car/spanner light came on, then power came back and the light went out. A few minutes later the same happened and the light went off again. Then turning into my road the same happened.
The battery is less than a year old and the service is due next month, any ideas what this could be and is it safe to try and drive to work today?

Your astra will probably be the astra h.
You will have to get the fault codes read with a diagnostic tool or do the pedal test.

The 1.4 engine oil pressure switch often leaked oil into the wiring loom causing endless misfire problems.

It could be your coil pack on its way out.

You will be better using the astra owners network forum under the astra h section. Post your codes on there when you get them
