How to find a specific spec on 2nd hand models?

Post by markw » Fri Jan 11, 2019 6:09 pm

Looking to buy a second hand Astra in April this year. I want the following:

-Adaptive cruise control
-Driving assistance pack one
-Reverse camera
-High powered USB port

I also have a couple of nice-to-haves, but could live without:
-Self-Park
-Dual Zone Climate Control
-The short/stubby ariel

So which model do I look for? I'm thinking as follows:

Adaptive cruise control
This seems to be on all models. I'm looking for an automatic, so this will work to a complete stop.

Driving assistance pack one
This seems to be standard on SRI models and optional on others. Was having a look at sites like autotrader, but found it difficult to identify which listings had this option.

Reverse camera
Seems to be optional so any model could have it. Again, difficult to identify which listing have it.

High Powered USB Ports
My understanding from reading these very forums is that I need to look for a MY 2017 on onwards to get the higher powered USB ports. Does include both 17 and 66 regs?

Self-Park
Is this included in the reverse camera option, or is it a separate option entirely. For anyone who has it, is good at getting into small-ish spaces?

Dual Zone Climate Control
Cause the missus is always freezing. I think this is limited to elite models only?

Short/stubby ariel
Seems to be on elite models. Some SRi have it, others don't.

So basically to tick all the boxes, I'd want a 2017 or later Elite with driving assistance pack, reverse camera and self park options, right?

Any tips to identify these options on second hand car sites?

Cheers!

I have adaptive cruise control and at the front of the car where the Vauxhall badge is there's a square around it, as the newer adaptive cruise is radar controlled.
Self parking is really good! Can get into very small space with ease.
Looking near the gearstick buttons you should see what features are included, self parking is a button down there.
An elite is your best bet for the features you've picked

Far from all models have the adaptive Cruice control.

This feature is only available on cars that has the radar fitted.

For self park, look for 3 sensors on each "corner" of the car. (6 on the front and 6 on the rear). These can usually be seen on the pictures of the car, if you look at online sellers.

Also, all self park cars have the reverse camera.

I dont know for sure that it is an absolute certain, but reverse camera should also mean that the car will have the navigation radio, which can be easily identified on pictures.

Also the features you want means that the car will have the new Playstation steering wheel and the color display in the instrument cluster.

Self park only uses 1 sensor of each corner. The other ones are just normal parking sensors.

The Adaptive Cruise Control comes in the later model with Driving Assistance Pack Two which is/was quite an expensive upgrade.

Driving Assistance Pack One is standard on the SRI and optional on the Elite.

If you want the reverse camera you also need the parking pack which I believe is standard on the Elite.

Oh, didn't realize it's an option. Do you know when they added it?

Thanks. Does MY2018 mean any 18 or 68 reg? Or could a 67 reg car built in Jan 2018 have it as an option?
