Rear Light Cluster

Post by WhelanUK » Sat Dec 29, 2018 7:03 pm

Strange issue, was driving home indicated right and a whole host of errors popped up on my dash about my rear lights.

Got home an looked, turns out all the light in my rear drivers side cluster are not working. Tail light, indicator and brake. Seems strange that all the bulbs would go at once. Too dark to look now but has anyone had a similar issue?

Well if all lamps are not working, the best action would be to look for something they have in common.

GND/Chassis/negative connection would be my first guess.

That was my thinking. Will take the cluster out tomorrow, just thought it was strange for everything to blow at once.

Maybe a bad fuse / loose connection?

For that to happen, there would have to be some sort of over-voltage situation, that would affect all bulbs, all bulbs would have to be lit at the time AND it would have to be contained to only that side, or else other bulbs would blow aswell.

Or all bulbs should blow at the same time.

IF this was the case, i would certainly buy a lottery ticket, because both scenarios would be incredibly unlikely to the point that winning the jackpot in the lottery would be much more likely to happen.

My money is on the GND gone missing :)

I've just had this issue on my passenger rear light cluster. Does anyone know what it would be?

I'm thinking the fuse. Where is the fuse for the light cluster?

Update. I gave the plug a push and the cluster is working again. I think there may be a loose connection with the plug. I'll keep an eye out if it does it again.
