Personally I wouldn’t worry about the torque exceeding the max torque stated for the gearbox...GM will have built in a safety factor of at least 10%.
Also if you change your gearbox oil to something decent like Fuchs TITAN SINTOFLUID SAE 75W-80 rather than the crap from the factory you shouldn’t have any issues, plus you will have a far slicker gear change

As far as i know, the 1,0 uses the F17 gearbox.
The number in this code (17) usually represents the max. torqueload....
M24 (M1X) used on the 1,4 can handle up to 240 Nm; the M32 up to 320 Nm.

Details on which gearbox is used per model Astra K are here: http://www.opel-infos.de/modelle/astra_kst.html

So the 1.0T (D10XFL) reference points to F17 as gearbox type. But the F17 reference takes you here: https://www.opel-infos.de/technik/getriebe/f17.html which then talks about the B10XFL manual using something called an M26.

However I can't find an M26 page. So I'm not sure if we should count the F17 or M26 naming as relevant for the 1.0T gearbox. I.e. should we regard the gearbox as being rated for 170 or 260Nm.

Given that the 1.0T is rated for 170Nm, it would seem feasible that it uses a gearbox also rated for 170Nm.


To explain further, here you can see other links for the M22/M32 which show how they are both rated for torque based on the numbering.
The M22, used in the 1.4T with stop/start (220Nm):

And M32, used in the 1.4T without stop/start and the 1.6T (320Nm):

Now since the 1.4T with S/S is rated at 230Nm, and yet the M22 is only rated for 220Nm, this all seems a bit odd. And Ziggyturbo seems to think the 1.4T S/S comes with an M24 not an M22 gearbox, which would mean the opel-info site is wrong. But I can't find an M24 on the opel-info site either.

So to summarize, I have shown you a bunch of details but I have no idea what the answer is :)

Pretty sure that not every thing is correct on that website. 1.4T SS comes with M22 gearbox but we cant know if it has uprated bearings so for example that it can take 300Nm. Only way to know that would be to contact Opel.

Is it normal that when you rev your engine on a 1.0T astra it seems a bit flat

The opel-infos.de website is no official Opel website, so I am not sure all the presented information is 100% errorfree.
Before Opel/Vauxhall was sold to PSA I found this GME-information about the gearbox used in the 1,4 MT6:

In this case other question... Did anybody tuned to 220nm? I am reading this forum for more than 2 years (since I bought my Astra) and other forums as well. I've never seen anybody anywhere to confirm 1.0T tune up to 130 bhp/220 nm. Seems that everybody is talking but nobody did it so far.

Again... Anybody?
