1.4t ST Hesitation

Post by Dave1850 » Fri Aug 10, 2018 10:33 pm

Hi All

I've read lots about the hesitation on acceleration experienced by many Astra owners. I've not had the problems - until today. My car was serviced today by the main dealer and received the software update. On the way home (15miles) the acceleration was very hesitant through the 2000 rev+ range. It has the recommended oil and as I say it's the first time i've had problems.

Many people on this forum seem to have had the problem solved by the software - but mine seems to be the other way round!

regards
Dave

I had a hesitation like this on my Sri 150 st from new ,iam in the motor trade at an independent garage but are part of the Vauxhall trade club so have some access to tsbs, was supplied with one about oil type in the turbo Petrol engines.re not using dexos 2 but instead using dexos 1 so had the selling dealer change the oil and filter @3000 miles 4mth old and it’s never missed a beat since.now done 8000 mile and 13mth old .iav also had the software update around 2mth ago seems to have made my mpg jump up a tad was late 40s regular but now mid 50s with no proformance loss

Hi Mike and thanks for the info on your experience.

My car was serviced Friday and has now started hesitating around the same rev point yet just under a fortnight ago I drove it 500miles in a day across France without a problem. The dealer was supposed to use Dexos 1 because I asked about the oil beforehand. It's going back to the dealer later this week so i'll let everyone know if there is a notable revelation.

regards
Dave

Hi All
An update - the fault appears to have been traced to a faulty MAF sensor. The dealer found this via diagnostics and by substituting a sensor from a new vehicle (I'm assured the new vehicle has had its sensor reinstated). So it's now a warranty claim.
