Just checked for updates and Google maps was one of many apps updated so I'll check later to see if satellite view is now available. With 4g being widely available on three and with unlimited data on my sim only contract I'm not worried about the extra data usage with satellite View.

Same here, no slowdowns what so ever, browsing and zooming on the map is fast whether satellite View is on or off.

If it's running slow for someone my first guess would be they haven't made use of the offline maps feature in Google maps.

Satellite view all good on mine :)

Seems to be pretty much the same speed as the normal road display, but I haven't tried it yet in a crap 4G area, that could change things!

Sounds like a good idea, if it's possible, although I haven't done that myself.

I have a massive data allowance on my SIM only deal with EE and so I've never worried about having to do that and the reactivity / response seems to be very good, whether streaming normal maps or satellite view. As I said before, however, I may come to grief in a bad network reception area!

I'm impressed. The traffic speed colours show up much better than in the normal view because of the contrast.
