Astra K, 2016 Petrol Clutch Switch Issue

Post by andydelboy63 » Thu Jun 10, 2021 10:31 am

Recently had an issue with non start due to broken clutch pedal switch (now replaced and has been fine for weeks), but now, on initial attempt to start, the clutch pedal depress warning comes up and the vehicle won't start. Depress the clutch again and all starts OK. The switch is still fine, not broken and operating correctly, but the car will not start on first attempt, you have to depress the pedal again and retry, then it starts? You can get in and depress the clutch 10 times in a row, but it won't start, but after the non start, if you re-depress the clutch it's fine? It's almost as if the first signal from the clutch switch is not being received by the ECU, but try again and it's fine.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
No, the breakdown guy explained that it needed replacing, explained how, but never mentioned any re-learn requirement? It has been perfect for a few weeks since replacing.
Is that a dealership job, as I don't have any electrical equipment?
Thanks.

Perfect, except it doesn't crank first time lol
it doesn't have to be a dealer, just someone with the right gear to do it,a decent independent (bosch service centre etc) should be ok

Hi Valer, thanks again.
When I say perfect, it has been for weeks since replacing the switch, but yesterday the new fault appeared with no crank on first attempt. That's why I didn't think it needed any programming?
I'll ask around though if you think it's that.

You have to get it done even if it's just to rule it out, there's a range of fault codes associated with the sensor so they need reading once the learn is done.

Hi all,

I currently have a Vauxhall K 1.4T I have been experiencing problems with my clutch. It keep sticking down struggled to get into 1st, 2nd and reversing can be impossible sometimes. The reverse is the worst part about it, its happened 3 times in the last week. It only started happening when the weather was nice so I took it to a friend and he topped the fluid up and it still happens. The car is a 65 plate registered in 2016, done 59k. I've been reading that a fair few people have had the same issue but unable to find it anyone has had this covered by Vauxhall or do I need to buy a new clutch? I have been quoted £700-800 by a friend. I rung Vauxhall and they said if i wanted them to check it I would have to pay £100. I don't mind paying that but I know when they get your car it always ends up with a very expensive bill if it isn't covered under warranty. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Nicolle
