Alloy wheel corrosion update
The wheels on my 2016 car are corroding at the back of all 4,I reported it to my dealer while it was in for service last week, they removed the wheels, photographed them and forwarded the pictures to Vauxhall.the dealer contacted me today to tell me that a complete set of new wheels have arrived and the car is now booked in for fitting.in this instance I am delighted with the great response from both the dealer (Baylis Hereford) and Vauxhall customer service,10/10.

Sounds great. I'll have to keep an eye on mine to see what happens. Only got 6 months left on warranty.

Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
Would the wheels being kerbed influence the corrosion in anyway?
Some of my wheels are corroded but they’re kidney so was wondering if Vauxhall would still change them.

Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
Do you have to go back to the original dealer or any Vauxhall to have them change under warranty
Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
Mine warranty runs out in 20days one of my alloy is a little corroded and I got the alligator strip around the wheel arch to stop from kerb damage
Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
I had this issue, it started on the drivers side front. I only noticed because it was letting air out of the tire. Ended up starting to effect the passenger side front. Took it in to Arnold Clark for investigation and they told me they were replacing the front two alloys and were going to keep the car overnight.
Got a call the next morning and they told me that they have ordered 4 Alloys from Vauxhall as all 4 are corroding. This was about a year ago and haven't had an issue again yet...
This was all done under warranty luckily

Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
We have been 'fighting' a battle on this since March this year. Our 2016 car has the diamond cut 18's, and had a wheel replaced under warranty in 2017 and yet is exhibiting corrosion on all four wheels in now. There is no kerbing at all and the wheels are smooth everywhere, but they look like someone has been round them with a grinder, it's that bad.
The car has been in with a dealer who 'lost' the photos they took so we had to send more. We then got told it was 'atmospheric corrosion' and not covered under warranty, like there is a different kind of corrosion. I am an Automotive Engineer and, coincidentally, I worked on component design for the Astra K, so I am aware of quality control procedures in engineering. I have challenged Vauxhall on this and they say they trust their technicians eyes.
I have had multiple emails with Vauxhall over this and today the car is being assessed by their 'Technical Field Manager' who I hope will rule favourably against the wheel condition and age because they are expensive wheels, they should not look like this at 2.5 years old.
Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
On what components have you worked for the K? I still have 20 year old Astra in my yard and wheels are just now starting to show sign of corrosion. Nothing wrong with my wheels for now.
Re: Alloy wheel corrosion update
We just had an update from Vauxhall. They are going to replace all four wheels free of charge which is obviously an exceptional result. It may have taken time and a lot of conversation but they have ended up being more than reasonable.
I was on the upper body structure team, so all the sheet metal that converts a HB5 into a SW including the entire tailgate and the upper sections of the rear doors was done by my guys. We also did all the welding design including the laser brazing on the roof.
