I paid just £17,550 for my 1.4T SRi with most of the extras back in December 2017 - saving more than £5,200 off the list price thanks to £2,000 scrappage allowance, Partner Discount, £250 web voucher, £750 finance allowance (no finance deal) and generous dealer discount.

There weren’t any second hand Astra K’s back then so I ordered new and got exactly the spec I wanted.

I’d happily do the same again but would t get the stupid phone holder charger that I’ve never used.

I bought the car during Opels 24h discount sales which happen every year around Christmas. Not sure if Vauxhall has something similar.

It was cheaper to order one as we wanted then it was to buy the pre-reg in the showroom without the options we wanted! 3 month wait was fine to save 3k plus get the car we wanted.

There were no 1.6T's to try so I had to take a punt on its being good - it sure is.

I Did try a 1.4T petrol Elite ST first and liked the ST layout.

I decided I wanted a red 1.0T SRI with keyless entry and a spare wheel. When I started looking into it a bit further I found that as I wanted to use the scrappage scheme the car had to come from stock as there wasn't time to order a factory built car and get it registered before the cut-off. There weren't any with the keyless or spare wheels, but there were a few in the country without the options (including one at a local-ish dealer) so I went for that.

Bought it seven months old, 1.6 elite 110 diesel. If the new K is half as good as my last Astra a Mark 4 I will be really happy.

I had a list of options I wanted, the SRi ticked most of the boxes, sorted the rest and it took 2 months for it to be built and in the UK.
