PSA purchased opel / Vauxhall

Post by Pinttas » Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:27 pm

We bought our Astras in the transition from Opel / Vauxhall to the PSA Group.
Did we buy it at the right time or should we have waited?

We bought last Opel Astra. And last Opel is the new Insignia. After that, no more Opels. Just shitty french cars with Opel badge. So if you liked Opel, enjoy your Astra and say bye :D

I think the PSA merger is not all bad. I've driven the new 3008 and it is a fantastic car. The new PSA-based Crossland X has also gained a lot of positive reviews. It feels a bit cheap on the inside, but other than that it's actually a good car for its price. The upcoming Grandland X looks really nice both inside and outside and had the same design language as Astra and Insignia. Considering the positive reviews 3008 has got, the 3008-based Grandland X can't be a bad car. Both the 1.2 Puretech petrol and PSA HDI diesels are good and frugal engines. PSA uses Aisin automatic gearboxes which are superior to GM Hydramatics. GM also uses the new 8-speed Aisin in the new Insignia. I'm actually considering buying Grandland X after Astra.
Opel Astra Sports Tourer Innovation (Elite) 1.4T M6, Summit White.

Ordered: Opel Insignia B Sports Tourer Innovation 1.6 CDTI A6, Abalone white, AGR premium

Old: Astra J Sports Tourer Sport (SRi) 1.4T M6 2013

PSA needs bigger petrol engines hopefully Opel will help with that.

Think if the Astra VXR/ GSi is released it'll probably have the engine from 308 GTi which is 1.6T producing 276bhp with the reduced weight of the K will make it as quick if not quicker than the outgoing J VXR

I believe Opel 1.6T is also capable of 280hp. A german guy has it chipped to 240 with no problem. So with some HW changes 280 or more hp kein problem i guess

Hopefully they wont use THP(they prolly can't) since its less reliable than Opel 1.6T
