Ecoboost problems

Post by Finston Pickle » Thu Oct 12, 2017 7:37 pm

A worrying report in Auto Express today about the Ford ecoboost range, particullarly the 1.0.

Blown up engines (a head gasket failure in the end) costing ~6k to replace, unless Ford contribute. Surely they can make them for ~£1.5k - it does seems a bit steep.

How much will replacement VX engines be if ever needed?

Around 4-5k € for 1.4T, that's a guess.

Do you have a link to this report (my niece has just bought one).

Tiny tiny % of total sold , prob 100,000s. Ecoboost superb unit , early ones had a couple of recalls , a collant hose that made car run hot but all should be done by now. I had a 1.0 ecoboost fiesta before my 1.6 st fiesta and no probs. If that engine blew up just a trip to the scrappy for a 2nd engine.

The article was in the magazine - no link.

Auto Express numbers ~440,000 models with engines - 44,000 cars in repair program - degas hose - 6,000 Outstanding - 600 owners in facebook campaign - ~400 replacement engines PA.
