I've got exactly the same issue...and been pottering around in an Astra K hire car whilst mine has been in for the recall, and it does the same. I guess the sensor is just a bit keen!

I don't get rattles but the exhaust booms at constant low revs which is annoying...
I have the same issue with the headlights I was told there was no software for the lights as it's just a sensor.

That constant boom from the exhaust at low revs might be the engine doing a dpf regen. When my car is doing a regen and I'm driving around town or an A road the exhaust booms at about 1500rpm. Soon as the regen is finished the sound goes away at that speed.

Once the weather warms up I’m going to permanently disable my auto lights and the stupid screen dimming in bright sunlight with the over sensitive sensor.

Removing the off setting was stupid especially on Vauxhall’s cheap crappy lights system.

That's not true. Headlight's ECU do have firmware.

Thank you, I will get on to vauxhall about this!

but my opinion is that everything that is set as an automatic by default should be possible in some way to switch to manual mode (maybe by flashing the SW?). Thanks God there is the button to turn off that awful Start/Stop system. I can´t imagine what can happen with the engine, battery and everything around especially in traffic jams when it turns off and back on maybe for 50 times in a short period of time...
I just keep my foot on the clutch instead, this prevents the stopping.

Normally i find that it is a good feature as some traffic lights in my area are taking between 30-60 seconds to go green after i activate the coil in the road.

Tell them it's the K26 module. They will know you have inside information. ;)

When (If ever) are all these fancy computer modules inside the car actually updated.

I guess that there must be a lot of modules that have software, and we all know that software has bugs and can be improved.

I was just wondering if the modules will automatically be updated when vauxhall plugs their computer into the car or not ?

If i should compare this to something else i would compare the car to my computer. It has many different hardware components and every one has a "driver". in my computer the drivers will be updated automatically when new drivers are released for my graphic card, my sound card and so on.

There are offcourse only a few modules where we can actually see any difference, for example the radio and the instrument cluster.

But lets take lane assist for example....Maybe they improved the functionality of this, but when, if ever will i get this. Would be annoying, driving around with something that you felt was working less than perfect, and a simple software update would fix it.

No, they need to be updated and configured individually one by one.

Ok, just really strange really.

I would imagine that vauxhall would also have an interest in these modules being up to date.

But offcourse, if the shop had to have the car on the computer for a few hours to update, someone would have to pay for it.

This is what i love about the Tesla. Minus the "Always online and downloading by itself".

I have had the car six months now and the auto lights are as everyone describes.
I am fed up driving around like a wally with the sun-visor down to shield my eyes from the brilliant sunshine while the headlights are ablaze.
Does anyone know if you can fit a better sensor from another Vauxhall model or even another manufacturer?
Another thing I have noticed is condensation inside the sensor housing.
