Thanks for info Valer.
How much import tax?
Hi Redman. I bought mine used for £210 in Feb. 2019. I got stung as well (I knew it was coming of course) for £77 duty on top of that but thanks to Valer telling me about his crap Mongoose copy, I decided to shell-out for the genuine article.

In my experience, the biggest part of the duty charge is normally the vat coz the cheeky tw**s work out the vat on top of the duty AND any extra "handling" charges by the UK Carrier (usually RM) If you have any contacts in the US (like I used to have when I was buying bike bits) you could always ask them to get it for you and send it over to you marked as a gift, also not valued at any more than £36 (was about $50) and you won't pay any duty.

Alternatively, you could ask the seller if he'd be willing to do that ? Another option is to see if the package will be sent using the "eBay Global Shipping Program" as Duty costs will be calculated at point of sale so there'll be no surprises when they try to deliver it. That's why the washer jets I bought cost nearly three times as much as the items themselves in postage

It's too long ago to accurately remember but i think it was around £80-£100
That is a high additional sum.

Think I might be as well now Valer coz if I've picked the right customs code for an obd reader (think I have) the duty is rated at 0% so the only extra is VAT. On that Mongoose you've linked to, it comes to £78.43 on £390 total.

I paid £77 on mine that came to £210  Must be some hidden costs somewhere ?

I reckon I've made a complete balls-up of my figures so the best way to give anybody who wants to go this route any ideas is to give you the actual figures.

I paid:-
$279 for the unit.
$22.98 shipping.
$79.39 import charges (was on the Global shipping Programme I mentioned earlier)
So total of $381.37

Dunno what the exchange rate was at the time but I paid for it using my no foreign fee CC and it came to £287.50

Hope that helps........it certainly hasn't for me - lol.

When all said and done you both got a good price when comparing it to the price in the link.

Well mine was used, hence the lower price but I don't know what Valer paid for his.

Ignore what I posted previously then.

It looks to be a good unit though and you can't seem to get them cheap from anywhere else.
Will they interrogate every module on the astra k?
Bcm
Abs
Instrument
Epb
Engine ecu etc
