I wouldn't pay main dealers a penny. I do all maintenance myself, not only do I save a fortune but I know the job has been done properly. I stamp the service book myself and have comprehensive service records, never put any buyer off when selling

I would add that whenever I have sold or traded in my old car, beyond the question ‘has it got a full service history’ question there is never any scrutiny of the details. Equally whilst I might have fretted over a small dent or scratch thinking it will knock value off, it never has.

Private buyers may be more picky but I’ve never noticed.

My point being It is easy to get hung up on precise detail and it makes no difference ultimately.

Hi all,

Sorry to revive an older thread. Looking to do a service on my car soon. The last two services I've used 5W-30 D1G2 oil and it's been fine. Looking on here this morning seems VX have again changed the spec?

I simply can't afford to pay the main dealer service pricing, especially with the current lurgy situation so want to make sure I'm putting the right stuff in.

I've had a look for the 0W-20 oil but not able to find it (only a quick look though). Does anyone know if it's okay to keep using the 5W-30 D1G2 for now?

Car is a 2016 Astra 1.0T SRi.

Thanks in advance

Hi
Have a look at this post, where Valer has posted the bulletin and there is a remark on the bulletin stating "In the meantime it is ok to use the d1 g2 5w30"
Imho you will be ok using d1g2. The new oil is still difficult to get in various sizes.

Thanks for the quick reply @Redman!

I'll go with the 5w-30 D1G2 for this service then and use the newer oil next time around when it's more readily available.

Thanks!
