1.6t vs 1.4t

Post by Dazzvxline » Fri Sep 25, 2020 4:21 pm

So is there that much difference between the newer 1.6t 200ps and 1.4 t 150. I know the earlier 1.6 0-60 was maybe sub 7 secs and went to 7.3 but the 1.4 remained 8.0 who's driven both.?? Also the used market is saturated with 1 Yr old 1.4 and also the 1.6 that are 2 or 3yrs old have had a couple of owners short term owners are they bad cars and owners want rid or what?

A lot of ex hire cars are the 1.4t so avoid them as most have been hit or gave that much bother the hire companies shift them on and they get repaired with a low standard, my first astra was an ex fleet in red and looked like a patchwork quilt, lucky I caught it with in the 30 days and rejected it.... Seen it driving near where I live by some unlucky sod lol

No comparison , I've had a 1.0t and a 1.6t and driven all our pool 1.4t cars.
1.6t much superior in drive , good economy and go really well. Also lovely cruiser.
The pool cars (1.4t) , all totally unreliable , in for major work on lspi issues , new engines etc etc.

Go for a 1.6t , don't buy the 1.4t , you won't regret the extra horses and far superior reliability.

Thought the lspi issues had gone in the newer ones. I'm thinking vxline 69 with around 5k miles

Go 1.6t vx line 69 plate , lspi was a repeat issue on one of our pool cars , 2 engines required , enough said.
The 1.6t is a superb motor , no known issues to look out for.

To be fair I'd like a 1.6. But finding a 1.6 vx line to fit my requirements is going to be hard. Its going to replace a 16 plate 118 msport 32k miles so I'm looking for 18 plate minimum and 12k miles max. At a good price

I purchased my 68 plate vx line 1.6t Sri nav just over a year ago , about £12k .
Keep looking fir a 1.6t , it's well worth it.
Twin exhausts look nice as well.
Worst thing to do is get a 1.4 then see a 1.6t go by lol

That's the thing. There is a local 17 plate with 12k miles but it's £12.999. A 68 plate with 8k miles not far away was recently £14,600 both seem expensive to me

I'm surprised at those prices , very high.
I live near Bournemouth and they are quite expensive down here but I've seen 68 plate ones now for £11.5k.
Keep looking and go further afield if needed.
