Probably around 3.5k. Depends what mood I'm, sometimes it's 5.5k but it becomes a bit notchy higher up.

What do you mean by ‘shifting is not good’?
The shifting itself should not matter regardless what rpm you are shifting at. The picking up of the engine after shifting is affected by what rpm you shift.
Anyway the gearbox is not suitable for quick shifting, unfortunately. Move through the gears with ease and you should be fine.

I'm amazed you haven't already come across this, since you own the car...

But that is one of the main complaints about this car/gearbox, shifting from 1st to 2nd is not very smooth - and as other posters here have mentioned quick gear changes are not something the M32 box does well.

It is not a performance box by any means.

CVT auto is something very different mate, there basically are no gears. But this type of gearbox is only found on the facelift 1.4 astra K.

That cvt is something else , very weird to drive.
I remember them back in my Volvo days , marmite cars - love them or hate them.
