Sri VX-line 1.4T changing to 1.6T thoughts

Post by BRUCE225 » Wed Oct 09, 2019 11:50 am

Hi

Really happy with my current 17 reg car but was planning on changing every 3 years until the invasion of Peugeot.

I'm now thinking of changing the 1.4 which i've been offered 10k for and purchasing one of the many 1.6 68reg's that's on Autotrader for 12k just approaching 1 year old.

Paid 14.5k (Nov 17) for my 17 pre reg zero miles. just trying to find any new car in that price bracket again seems a massive step down and much less powerfull engines

What's people thought's ?? A. on the 1.4T to 1.6T B. Does it seem good value.

Hi,I would recommend that you go for a 1.6t,I have had my st for 3years now and I still think the engine is a gem,my car is quicker than my mates Skoda octavia vrs but is only group 19 insurance compared to the vrs 32 .it will do an indicated 55+mpg on a run but with a fantastic rate of acceleration when required and has been 100% reliable.it is also a silky smooth unit that doesn’t need to be revved hard, the Sri version with the “sport” button would be my choice as this increases the grin factor quite a bit.

Hi Bruce , exactly what Alanw said , fantastic motor and great value for money. I originally had a 1.0t 3 years ago , it had issues and got rid but back now with a 68 plate 1.6t Sri nav VX-line. I can thoroughly recommend this car , goes really well and good mpg normal driving.Only other car I personally like in similar or slightly higher price bracket is the Leon FR , cracking car again but for value for money I chose the Astra. As Alanw said it easily keeps up with other cars , equal or slightly better than my old 2016 fiesta st .Go for a VX-line if you can , I think it looks great with the side skirts and bumpers.

Yeah will get the VX-line same as I've got at the moment, seems not bad value to swap over as long as the ones in the trader are in tip top condition like mine is.

We changed from a 1.4T Sri to a 1.6T Elite in May. The extra 50 horses makes life so much easier. The pulling power is a amazing, no need to change down to 2nd for junctions and roundabouts, can stay in 3rd. Everything else was the same, including the rubbery gear change. We are about 4 to 8 mpg worse off.

I liked the extra oomph so much that I have changed my own Fiesta ST to a 3 door Kia Pro'ceed GT. A good mix of both cars, the gadgets and power of the Elite and very close to the handling, ride and fun of the Fiesta. In fact I am finding I am travelling too fast in it at times. Doing about 30 mpg. Maybe worth you looking at the olde Cee'd GT if you want sportier feel than the SRi? We'll probably replace the Elite with the new Ceed GT in due course. Not many 200bhp warm hatches on the market.

Like the idea of having new cars every 3 years but on the Vauxhall budget so think I was spoilt with the Astra I've got. Like the Cee'd like you said would mean having and older car and can't afford a new one.

We lease the Elite and to lease a new Ceed GT would currently cost the same. Couple of grand down, couple of hundred a month, change every 3/4 years. All depends how you like to finance your cars.

Last purchase came out of my savings and this one will if I change, looked at leasing the Astra in 2017 and there where some cracking deals around but decided to pay cash, seem a lot more expensive this time round for leasing in general.

Our spec'd new elite was nearly £27K list! Even using the various carwow/carbuyer/broker sites I couldn't get more than £5k off with pcp's about £450 a month! The lease is half that and I sold the Sri into the trade and am sitting on a pile of cash and driving a new car. Best thing I've ever done.
