Is it just me or has the author of that gushing bit of prose - actually driven the car in question?

While most of the changes are welcome, the lack of a decent performance/halo car is still a missing link in the new Astra and these tiny capacity models aren't going to do anything to address that. Bring back the 1.6T with uprated power and sports chassis.

Yeah, I've got a somewhat irrational bias against 3 cylinder engines. I don't really see the point and think they would be underpowered. There really should be a 1.6 equivalent with at least 200bhp or preferably more. That said they must have the sales figures and think there is no market for it?

Also the 1.4 in cvt only is a poor move I think. I remember years ago when working for Volvo they made a cvt and whilst it had a bit of get up and go was juicy as hell. Weird to drive as well , similar to driving in 1 gear. Had huge belts that drove the cvt system......thought this was dead but see there are a few manufacturers that still do them. Really is a lazy way of driving hence bought by the elderly years ago.

I think there is a market and people have been waiting for a GSi or VXR model. Also, the SRi should have slightly stiffer/sporty suspension like every other Astra SRi before it - not just a trim level. The current one rides and handles fine (in Wattt;s Link form) but Imagine how much better it'd be with 5-10% lower ride height, weightier steering, etc.

Where can you find technical details of the new GM type, torquier 143bhp 1.4 petrol turbo triple, with twin balance shafts and 9 speed, conventional automatic gearbox?

What happened to the 1.6 petrol turbo engine that Opel were designing for the PSA group for 2020 - Has it fallen by the wayside?
