Just ask your dealer to clarify mate if you’re in that much doubt.

As I said in an earlier post:

"I have spoken to the dealer that did the recent service: they didn't seem to think that losing 5% in 10 days was unusual, and have asked me to monitor it for a full month. At the current rate of decline I would expect it to be down to 85%. I will see what happens then."

Suppose the most important question is if they reckon you should keep the maximum miles between services as a guideline, or if you have to follow the oil life indicator and can reset at any desired moment without warranty void.

Do you know what the maximum miles per service guideline is please? I don't know myself, but assumed that my average of about 10,000 per year would be well within the limits?

In kilometers is every 30k km or every year, whichever comes first. How they round it up in miles I dont know but definately over 10k. Again consult your dealer to be sure, as you have to battle him in case of warranty claims.

30,000km is about 20,000 miles, so as you say, I'm well within that.

There you go. Still I dont know about resetting the counter yourself. I guess it doesnt void anything, else they would have blocked it off I reckon. But to be sure ask your dealer.

But there is almost certainly a log that vauxhall can access to see at what mileage and time the counter was reset. If you dont have a corresponding stamp in your service book and a note of what oil was put in, they will use this to try and wiggle their way out of any warranty claims.

Just a note on oil life: it seems to differ greatly if driving on highways or sitting in line waiting, or if driving really fast: 4500 kms at around 120km/h takes takes about 1-2 % for me, which is about the same as a couple hours slow city driving, or about 100kms at 160 km/h. I'm now at 4% after about 14000km since the 1st service (2nd service in 3 weeks); last year, however, when I had the 1st service at about 13000km, I was only down to about 15-20%. The difference for me is mainlym it seems, too many hours driving at 0-15 km/h.
