This looks like a cool mod, I was just thinking tonight how crap the charge is as my phone went flat.

Can I just clarify, this has no effect on the rear usb ports does it apart from the fact they have to be removed to get the panel off?

You're right, this doesn't affect the rear usb ports.

I did this too, and very pleased with the result.
Something that I didn't realised until after I plugged the new one in, is there is it can only go one way as there is a slot in the USB part, and to help anyone else out who wants to try it, here is a pic of the old USB socket, so you can see which leads come out, as I wasn't sure what was part of the unit and what was to be removed.

Mine is a 2016 with one USB and a jack, this gave me 2 working USB sockets that are connected to the head unit, plus a jack.

So I can android auto and have music on a USB stick.

My 2018 VX line 1.4T doesn't have the rear usb points just the single one in the arm rest,
Is it possible to retrofit the rear points?

Does the rear cover of the centre console have a blanking plate where the rear ports would normally go?

If so then pull that cover off and see if the loom is there to connect the ports to.

If it is then you can simply purchase the rear ports and connect them.

If you don't have the blanking plate or the loom then it's going to be a bit more involved.

Anything is possible but i doubt the wires are there.

I dont actually know if the 12V -> 5V converter is part of the back plate with the ports but i would guess it is, so basically all you would need was to run a wire from the centre console fusebox to the rear of the console and wire it up. If there is no 12V -> 5V converter you would need to buy one and just fit it between the wire from the fusebox and the unit.

It seems that it is not possible to get one that has USB charge ports but no rear heated seats buttons so you would be stuck with a couple of inoperative buttons on there.

I installed mine today on a 2016 Elite Nav. Quite straight forward, I found the trickiest part was unclipping the old module, I bent the end of a large paper clip in the end and I was easily able to unclip it from above and it came straight out.

There is a good increase in current to my phone now, thanks to the OP for posting this.

Do you think that if another twin module was purchased and used to replace the two rear charge only ports they could also be used for connecting devices to the head unit using one of these to convert the single data connection into two:
