Astra K 68 Plate Wet in the Boot

Post by Dapa » Sat Feb 09, 2019 2:10 pm

After a recent downpour I noticed today that it is wet in the boot and some has crept onto the left rear passenger seat.

Is there a known problem with these cars?

Regards.

This may have nothing to do with ur water ingress but three vauxhalls ago I had a vectra 2.2 direct that myself and a good family friend and mechanic were trying to locate my water leak into the boot and under the rear seat onto the rear passenger footwell.we had the whole boot trim stripped out and water running over the boot and roof toward the rear and hatchback no leak but still water. The mechanic then stripped off the hatchback seal and pulled down the headlining just up to the ariel, lo and behold the seal wasn't mated to the roof properly and water was coming in there ,even a small kink in the seal or perish could cause water to come in .Failing that a silted up seal.Bill

The aerial on mine doesn't look like it sits all the way down on the roof as I can actually push it down

It could be the aerial gasket letting water in or the boot spoiler under there there’s around 8 gaskets anyone could be the problem. I had water coming into the boot after the car went to the garage for paint. Think they took boot off but didn’t bother to put the gaskets back on, so made my own.

Just to add to this, in the last week I had a tow bar fitted, I didn't think it was any relevance but maybe it has.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi Dapa,

I have this exact same issue! I've got it booked into Vauxhall for them to have a look at it on the 23rd of this month.

Did you get it sorted in the end?

I have a 66 plate Vauxhall Astra 1.6 CDTI SRI Nav

Kind Regards

Bob

Surely the headliner would be water stained if the Aerial gasket failed.

Check all rubber seals around the boot and ensure they aren't tacked under the trim etc.

It was the wiring loom by the strut not refitted properly, they put some sealant on it

Didn't realise this was an older thread.

Glad it was an easy fix.
