Towing with Astra 1.0T Ecoflex 2016
Towing with Astra 1.0T Ecoflex 2016
Does anyone have any experience of towing with a 1.0T Ecoflex Astra please? I am thinking about towing a 750 kgs Pennine Folding Camper and the weight will increase by maybe another 100 kilos with luggage and camping things. I know the towing limit is 1250 kilos so OK there but how does a 1.0T drive with a trailer on the back? Anyone know? Thanks for telling me if you do. Best wishes to all.

Wouldn't pull the skin off custard without the caravan... Imagine how slow it would be with near an extra ton on it haha

Well isn't that the trademark of anyone pulling a campervan ?
Maybe it will be slow to get to cruising speed, but when it get's there i would not expect it to struggle to keep the speed.
I had a cavalier with a 2.0 engine in it, it was 115 horses and 170 Nm of torque. (C20ne)
This engine is 105 horses and the same 170 Nm of torque so should be similar in power.
The max horsepower for both engines are at 5500 RPM and the torque is at 1600 RPM for the Turbocharged 1.0 and at 2600 for the NA 2.0
I dont think anyone in the 1990's would say that a 2.0 cavalier would not be able to pull a campervan so i would not think this one would have any problems as well.

Can't see a problem with towing a light caravan, it's a torquey little unit .
JJ - I also had cavaliers lol , 1st a 1.6 then a 2.0 gli , that 2.0 unit was a peach and pulled along effortlessly.

I put 2,0 into Combo B body. The problem was that body was not made for that kind of speed
Answering original post: yes, you can tow a trailer with 1,0. For sure it will not be a pleasant ride but vacation at destination will be
From my experience: 1300kg trailer totally kills 2,0 diesel with 350nM. It will probably will be the same with Your configuration.

By all means crack on, just from personal experience you're going to have well over 2.5 ton load with the caravan, luggage and passengers.... The wee toy engine that is already highly stressed being turbocharged is going to be screaming lol.. Good luck
