Service

Post by PACMANIA » Thu Apr 12, 2018 7:36 pm

My car going in for a service tomorrow is there any latest updates or issues that I should let them know about. My car had no problems other the clutch which was sorted under warranty. £159 for a service. Abit pricey, but affordable

Sorry 1st service they tried to sell me engine flush for £36 saying will clean the engine etc. I say no my car just got over 11,000 miles on the clock I’m a low mileage user. Now they saying your pads are slightly worn. We can replace them for £193 all in making it sound cheap. I said when I pick my car later I will buy the parts from the service counter and take to my local joe bloggs. And he charge me £50. I’m only here to have my book stamp. Then after that no more dealerships for me. From now on I be happy to buy the parts then get kwik fit to fit it.

Sounds like they're on the make to me. I wouldn't use an engine flush either. You can check your pads yourself. Shouldn't charge you more than an hours labour at an indy to change them. I've just bought a set of rear pads for the mrs 595, Brembo at £25. Stealers wanted £136 to supply & fit them  I bought a rewind kit for £15 off eaby & I'll change them myself. Then I can use the rear brake piston rewind kit again, probably on my Astra when it needs some. Brakes are not covered under warranty anyway.

Isn't your car due its SECOND service this year, for which Vauxhall have a standard charge of £249, or perhaps you've already had two and this is your third? Are you sure you've had your service book stamped correctly?

Hi

I think it’s his first as he said that because it was such low mileage he didn’t need it doing each year. As far as I am aware it should be done every year or 20,000 miles which ever comes first.

Cheers

Probably not.
I asked service to check if update is available (after reading here that there is one) and they said they can only know if there is update once they connect to ECU and check. They did it, found out that there is actually update available for ECU of my car and updated it.
I doubt they check for updates themselves...
Well, that is at least for services where I live :D
