Reversing camera

Post by OOOOP » Tue Nov 14, 2017 6:17 pm

I have a 66 plate Astra K , I was wondering how much it would be if I took it to Vauxhall for them to put a reversing camera in if its possible to do ?

It is possible but they probably will not do that retrofit for you.

Hi!

Not sure if anybody on here has actually had one retro-fitted. I imagine it would be relatively expensive.

It depends if your model is fitted 'for, but not with', ie, is the wiring and basic hardware already there? It would then be a fairly easy job to connect everything and enable the screen on the dash. From scratch, however, quite fiddly and therefore lots of labour costs!

Obvious question, but have you asked your dealer?

I wanted fog lights retro-fitted to my previous Astra J and was told by the dealer that it wasn't possible because of the way the CANBUS was configured - it simply didn't allow for any extras that weren't already there at manufacture. Could be the case with the K.

Andy_c_34 was able to retrofit it.

There is no pre-installation.
There is no easy way to retrofit an OEM reverse camera.
It would need parts, cable, VCI code and MDI programming.

It is possible to have it retro fit for around £400.00 plus, there is lots to do in terms of removing trim and dash panels, then it all needs re-programming. My local Vx dealer took about 10 hours, but not sure how many were head scratching.
