Advise on Engine Bay clean!

Post by AC2019 » Wed Jan 22, 2020 9:46 pm

I want to tackle giving the engine bay a deep clean.

What products do you recommend?

What's the best process to do it?

Cheers,

Dear friend,

I used the Μeguiars AIO (all purpose cleaner, 1 part of AIO and 4 parts of water). You can use whatever brand you like....More or less every brand does the job.
The procedure is first to get rid of the dirty parts with the help of the AIO and a brush until no dirt stays at your brush. By using a microfiber towel dry off the surfaces after spraying and rubbing.
Second and final step is to apply a sealant coat of the 303 aerospace with a clean microfiber towel. Aerospace gives a natural look at your plastic surfaces. For better shine and restoration (if your plastic parts are faded) use the gel coat of Chemical guys, the so called Tire & Trim Gel and you will get the result you see at the above picture.

What ever you can get rid of from the bay of the engine, like the air intake, the engine cover etc, in order to give you more hand to deeper areas, will make your life easier.
Be patient and this will give you a better result.

This was my attempt to the cleaning.

I did take a 'before' but my SD card is now corrupted! So now you can only see the aftermath. I will say it's a definite improvement!
