How to make mirrors fold auto? (video)

I think the my17 elite has folding mirrors as standard.

The Elite does have electrically folding mirrors as standard but they are not automatic. i.e. fold when locking/unlocking via the remote central locking.

I took this up with Vauxhall Customer Service as auto folding mirrors were advertised in the 1st April 2016 MY 16.5 Astra Price & Specification brochure as part of the Parking Pack which I had specified. Vauxhall eventually agreed that they are not automatic and deleted the 'automatic' reference from the brochure pretty quickly.

An auto fold module can be purchased on eBay very cheaply but not having really missed this feature I would not wish to invalidate my warranty by fitting one.

Do they unfold as well when unlocking? Was it quite doable to get this done? Please let us know how to get this done im sure you make a lot of people happy with this bit of added functionality.

Is this module one that splices into the door loom or can you do this via CANBUS module ?


I actually made automatic folding mirrors on my old Zafira, it was a PIC microcontroller, and some other stuff that folded the mirrors when it got the lock signal, unfolded when it got the unlock signal and also there was a signal for the car to NOT fold the car when the car was started and the doors locked, to prevent them from folding when using anti-hijack.

Worked great.
