Bosch oil filters

Post by Alanw » Thu Jun 10, 2021 9:01 am

I must admit to being tempted to buy a Bosch oil filter for my 1.6t.They are a third of the price of the VX. one which is just under £20.As far as I can find out the Bosch ones seem to be of good quality .Does anyone know different or use them.I just get a bit peed of with some of Vauxhall’s prices.

I was looking at oil filters the other day,as you say the Vx parts prices are getting a bit silly nowadays, but i'm just so wary about fake stuff nowadays,
plenty about including Bosch,
i was wondering about a Hengst one as they were oem for some Vx applications, this looks to be a fairly reliable seller i've used before for Meyle stuff

I never bought original parts for services on any of my cars and my dad never did either. All cars we've owned are driving without issues to this day.

Just cause something is directly from the manufacturer / dealer, doesn't mean it's the best.

I've heard lots of good things about Bosch, MANN and BluePrint filters. There's always going to be a few bad opinions about something, can't avoid that, but those 3 brands have been recommended by several shops and mechanics so I'd look at one of those 3.
- Peugeot 206 Verve, 1.4 Petrol 2006
- Vx Corsa E Limited Edition, 3dr, 1.4 Petrol (90bhp) 2015
- Vx Astra K SRi Nav, 1.6 CDTi (136bhp) 2016
- Ford Focus ST-Line X, Estate, 1.5 EcoBlue (120bhp) 2019
- Vx Grandland X, 1.5 TurboD (130bhp) 2018 *Current*

It's not using different brands that's the issue though, nowadays it's the the high potential of fake parts in branded boxes,
this is where it pays to know your supplier

EPC is almost always 40% to 50% off so in reality half whatever the cost is on their website.
I normally use EPC and not been upset yet by them.

most of bosch filters aren't bosch filters :) they are contract manufactured.

that being said, they are not bad but they are not good either. "good" being they are not on part with mahle, mann or knecht.
just my $0,02

Exactly this. Buy a genuine filter, and somewhere on it will be one of these manufaccturer's logos (Hengst is another supplier).

Always used Mann filters. Heard a few things about bosch. On my old AstraH i bought Bosch for the garage to fit but they wouldnt as they had bad experiences with certain Bosch filters and didnt want the reprocussions of anything going wrong.
