Astra K Boot Lid Leak

Post by hG48558 » Fri Jan 22, 2021 3:56 pm

Hi,

Small amount of water is getting in behind the trim on the boot lid, this is noticeable at the trim join, see attached images.

Any suggestions as to how this water is getting in and how I can prevent this happening going forward.

Thanks.

That photo reminds me of one of those "work out what the object is from a close up " competitions

Possibly from the rear wash wipe.
Has the washer fluid frozen with the recent cold weather?

Take the parcel shelf out , drop the seats down and remove that trim. Sit in the back and get someone to shower it with a hose as could be coming from any where like theseal or more than likely the brake light or spoiler mounting bolts, usually tightening it up works a treat

Thanks, I'll give this a try tomorrow!

Can you advise on removing the trim, I had a brief look earlier today but couldn't see any obvious means of doing so...

That makes more sense to me ,
the earlier suggestions as to the source are good, water leaks can be the worst thing to pin down sometimes.

Here's how the trim fits, use a flat plastic blade for removal

If those trim clips are 'owt like the ones on my ST, do it somewhere nice and flat and have someone there with you to watch for any bits flying when you pop them. Took me bloody ages to find them when I took mine off to fit the rear dashcam

If I need to remove some trim like that I try to get some spare clips/fasteners - eBay is usually a good source. :-)
