Grinding gears, mainly 2nd

Post by K600 DYL » Sat Jul 27, 2019 10:38 am

Not all the time but happens more often than not, if I'm booting it from a set of lights and change to second it grinds like f***, was wondering if anyone else has come across this as it might just be me.

I've come across this many and many of times blasting those little annoying teenagers in there little 1.2s 😂 thinking they have a fast car because they have stuck a big exhaust on it, I think it's just because there not exactly designed to be used how we are using them I'm not exactly a mechanic but that's what I put it down to

Yep mine does it! You have to get things just right or it will crunch. Never does it when I'm messing on my own so must be nerves if I'm up against another car!

Gearshifts on the K are very vague, I've crunched mine 4 times in the three months I've owned it. Many reviews have mentioned it. I had my old diesel SRi Astra H over 6 years and NEVER crunched that once! That gearbox was very stiff, but the K's shifts are very light.

On another subject do you find that gear changes are very loud and clunky?

Mine is fine no grinding but then I drive normally and have no interest in racing from the lights.

I don't race it either. But I find shifting noisy and clunky. If I'm in a narrow street where the sound reverbs and windows down, I can hear a clunk when pushing the clutch pedal, a clunk when I operate the lever, and a clunk when engaging clutch again. Supposed to be normal?

I only get the clunking when using the shifter. This is normal as it's just the shift levers connected to the knob being yanked around in the gearbox selecting gears. Eventually they will get some play in them as they wear in. I love mechanical noise, and why I hate electric cars, they're boring
