Battery

I've seen a few pictures of people's boots and I've noticed that majority of people don't know if it's just me but my battery is in the boot? Can someone help explain this 😂

Shortens the engine bay giving more room in the cabin.

Because a spare wheel is really nice to have in case you get a punctured tire.

Sadly they only made room for a spacesaver tyre, which is stupid expensive and worse than a full size spare in every aspect....Except space and perhaps a bit of weight.

I often travel in the car alone for extended trips, and i have begun throwing one of the winter tyres in the boot, as i dont want to be held up for more time than needed if i get a flat tyre.

The spare wheel is a rare thing on the Astra K.

Yes, it must be a lot more expensive to make a spare tyre, than it is to make the pump and goo.

I would never use that gooey shit anyway as it will very seldom work and it is sure to get into the TPMS sensor so you will need the tyre AND TPMS sensor replaced, costing a great deal more than just fixing the tyre.

The missing space saver tyre missing would not be a big problem for me, if they were just reasonably priced, but unfortunately they seem to be made out of solid gold. One Spacesaver tyre is more expensive than a normal tyre, even though it's really just a plate-wheel, rated for low speed and very limited range.

Suppose one benefit of the spare wheel / 2nd load floor section is the reduction of road noise from the rear.

I think when I bought my car last year it was an optional extra which I think was £100. Would never have a car without a spare wheel though.

That price is perfectly reasonable.

But try asking Vauxhall the price for the foam insert and the spare spacesaver wheel now, it will be closer to 3 times that price.

exactly the same mate, got my new astra 1.6t in 2018 and as an optional extra paid about £100 for the spare wheel, they offset some of the cost by deleting the emergency inflation kit hence only £100.
