Start/stop again

Post by Dimlaith » Sun Jul 15, 2018 2:22 pm

Good afternoon. Does any one know if the start stop system is covered by a fuse. Mine is not working and looking through the owners manual there are several fuses relating to the engine as well as the exhaust and diesel system. Rather than pull them all and check I thought I would ask here first. Really don’t want another trip to the dealer if I can avoid it.

No idea about the fuse however have you got the aircon on as the amount the engine stops and starts is greatly reduced with it on particularly in this warm weather.

I would have thought that if there was a fuse blown, that you would be experiencing other problems with the vehicle, or have other warning lights illuminated on the dash.

A check with a diagnostic tester to validate all of the sensors/switches that feed into the stop-start control is required, which will hopefully pin-point the problem.

Thanks guys, I have tried it with air con on and off with no difference..looks like I’m going to have to suffer at the hands of the main dealer. Have also got an intermittent rattle/squeak coming from the front suspension that needs looking at. This will be my last vauxhall that’s for sure. Nice car spoilt by poor build.

I've noticed that if the battery voltage is lower than full charge that the start stop won't kick in. Ours sits in the garage for a while between runs and it's not till you are on your way home that it starts to work.

My daily commute is 25 miles each way, half on Motorway. Would think the battery is getting enough charge. Auto stop was working fine one day the next it stopped working completely.

As the colleague above (Ausastra2) said and I implied in the other topic - check the battery mate, usually such faults occur from a dying battery. You might just be lucky,

Despite having the car since 0845 this morning the dealer has done sod all except say they need to fully charge the battery so I need to rebook the car in. Unbelievable.
