Hi Cornish, what problems are you having with the suspension? Only asking as mine is same year as yours and I have no issues...hope this isnt something else that may raise its ugly head in the near future...think I have been quite lucky as no clutch issue either

I had my 66plate in for knocking noise from front end for what sounded like drop links to me. Was told by the technician that all astras had that noise as the shockers where very soft. 🤔🤔 🤔
Only just got the car so had no comparison. I was thinking of giving it a few months and trying again with the dealer and maybe even seeing if I could test drive a similar model for a comparison

Hi mate. Got a knocking when going over certain types of rough road, it only started about 12mths ago at approx 30k I'm not sure if its related to the 40mm lowered suspension as been unable to pin it down to a specific area apart from wheel area.

HI my first Astra k had a groaning noise coming from front near side and they replaced the ANTI ROLL BAR LINK then it was ok for about 1000 miles then the same fault again, then i traded it in for a Astra k which had only done 5k now at 7k the same fault is on like my first Astra k (groaning from the front) i think i should have gone for a VW and not Vauxhall. I'm in the motor parts distribution business it makes no difference on brands of cars some will go, some won't, some people avoid potholes some don't some people mount curbs some don't.

It's generally down to the driver making contact with with some thing and it's the weaker parts that go and luckily the cheaper parts.

Other brands have similar issues. What you probably want is a higher class car. :D
Yes all brands have these issues. BMW owners will look down on Vx owners with arrogance, but I went from an Astra J to a BMW 1 series and that was worse in so many respects. Not just because of all the faults, interior creaking, lower quality specification (audio equipment etc), but because having tried 3 different dealers in this area, the customer service isn't great either. Needless to say I'm back to Vx now and won't even consider an "upgrade" to a 1 series in the future. Simply not worth the extra expense.
The only aspect I can say was definitely better on the 1 series were the brakes. Much sharper than the Astra K and even a year into the Astra I am still surprised sometimes how unresponsive the brakes are in comparison to the BMW.
