Hi I have recently purchased an astra 1.4t sri I only had the car a few days and found that every now and then that the clutch pedal virtually goes to the floor,it was returned to the garage and the master cylinder was changed, while driving the car home I felt the clutch pedal sink again, the car is going back again tomorrow for further investigation.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so did it get fixed and what was the cause ?
When the problem gets solved I will post the results,I look forward to any useful advice.

Hi there,

I would be very interested to hear how you get along getting this resolved. I have a 16 reg Astra K 1.6 cdti SRi. I purchased the vehicle as a used demo vehicle from Vauxhall. On the way home from a friend this past Sunday with absolutely no build up or warning I suddenly could not change gear and the clutch pedal was stuck to the floor. The car was towed and has been at my local Vauxhall garage this whole week awaiting parts.

This has happened with only 19500 miles on the clock.

Hi the latest update from the garage concerning my clutch is that when I returned the car to the garage and went for a test run with another technician the fault occurred on several occasions while he was driving but predominantly when going round roundabouts ( odd I know ) I left the car with them and received a phone call later telling me that they thought the crankshaft had too much end float so that being a transverse engine when going round corners a certain way the crankshaft moved giving you more free play on the clutch pedal,I have never ever heard of this, the engine is being stripped from the car presently under vauxhall instructions and I should know more next week,I will keep you updated.

Hi
Strange fault that one, had to think how that would impact on the clutch pedal. The only thing I can think of is the flywheel along with the clutch assembly is moving away from the release bearing. Surely there would have to be a fair amount of end float movement to have that effect. Hope you get it sorted soon

Hi car still in garage awaiting replacement engine for 2 weeks now,I have been told it is on back order,I went to view the engine at the garage and saw that the crank had worn into the block maybe not excessively but it should not touch the block at all and only after 14000 miles,so the wait goes on not overly impressed with vauxhall "customer care" either ,they keep apologising and saying that they understand my frustration,I wish they did.

Hi all,

Update on my issue...the dealership diagnosed a faulty clutch slave cylinder which took 3 weeks to replace due to lack of parts being available.

I picked my car up last Wednesday evening after work and low and behold, on Saturday afternoon the clutch pedal found itself stuck to the floor and I had the joy of having the company of the RAC again followed by another tow. Whatever they did managed to work for less than 3 days 😡.

Now the dealer is trying to work out what is going on again. Have been the proud owner of 5 Vauxhalls that have never missed a beat but this one is doing my head in!

Taking mine into the dealers tomorrow morning for 3 issues I'm having, one of which is to do with the clutch pedal but not the issue your describing, my pedal makes a noise as you start to press the 6pedal down and then again just before I fully release the pedal I can hear the same noise, it doesn't sound like a click so I don't believe it's the cruise control switch. Only had the car for just under a month, clutch pedal made no sound when I took the car for a test drive and for the first week or so of owning the car.

I have a 16 Plate Astra sports tourer got 52,000 miles on the clock and recently started having issues with the clutch pedal sometimes sticking down usually at low speed and more so when it's been pressed down a lot reversing. I have found that spraying WD 40 on the mechanism helps the issue but will be taking it into the dealer in next few weeks for them to look at!

Mine makes this noise. Sounds like it's rattling abit to make this sound. I was thinking of putting wd40 on it. Let us know how you get on.

They re-greased the clutch pedal, I think all the pivot points and the pedal has been silent ever since.

Hello I have had the problem with the clutch I managed to video the clutch stuck down half way as I started the car stationary and showed this to Vauxhall they changed the slave cylinder, the clutch got stuck once like a week after but now it has been a few months it been fine, the only problem now is that my steering is making a cranking noise On full lock and with little movement this is a common fault apparently to do with the bearing in the steering, but not happy the car is in a 65 plate and only 15518 miles on it to be honest the car is lovely but I wouldn't have a Vauxhall again this is my 3 Vauxhall and the customer care (service team) department are a bunch or bewts just paid £20000 grand for a car and I got to deal with these muppets, the cars has been in 7 times for the clutch fault, lol hope this helps.....

I have 1.4T and I do occasionally hear a click when pressing the clutch while stationery but I think that its normal, yours doesn't sound normal. Is the noise coming from the pedal or gearbox? If from the pedal then its most likely a microswitch which won't cause any problems since its there just so that the car knows that you pressed the clutch.
