I had the same on mine had to fight with both Vauxhall and dealer to get it done under warranty, as I had done 72000 miles but issue started while still in warranty its a bad connection between the plug and the bulb holder causing it to burn out try putting a bit of copper slip on the terminals hope this helps

Hi thanks for your advice. It's been intermittent then last night it stopped again. I went to push the cable on more. When I took the light cluster out it was socked. Clearly rain water is just going straight in there.

It's booked in to Vauxhall garage. They've said it will be £75 for diagnostic. I said I don't think I should pay as if its water that's affecting it that's nothing I've done. My car is now out of warranty so will see what the outcome is.

Anyone got an idea of what I'll be looking at? New connector? New wiring loom? I personally think it's the wires that are faulty not the connector as the lights came out and off as I moved the wires around.

I had a similar problem with my o/s rear.Cleaned the terminals and sprayed with WD40.It seemed to be a problem with corrosion.Cleaned off surplus WD and smeared teminals lightly with Vaseline. No problem since this occurred around 3 months ago.

update. Car went in today.. The garage is charging £173, they waived the £75 investigation fee as good will, this will be for new light cluster and new connector. In contact with Vauxhall Customer care to see if they will help. The car is 8 months out of warranty, but this part isn't a wear or tear item or anything I could have influenced. The wiring loom was wet and it seems a rather common fault on the Astra K.

Will see what happens

When my rear light cluster started dimming and eventually failed the earth wire had burnt out..quick fix but annoying and appears to be a common issue

Update.

Car was fixed today. Vauxhall agreed to cover the cost to repair it and done it under warranty (car warranty ran out 8 months ago). The garage did well and argued the case to Vauxhall that I put to them, that it was out of my control and a common problem it seems.

One of the pins inside the plug had broken and they had pictures of it.
