So I should just wait for my engine to break and VX know this will happen and do nothing to prevent it.
VW did pretty much the same thing with TSI engines, earned them lots of bad rep.

Ok So I have now completed 1200 miles and all seems well.

Just popped back to let you all know. Interesting comments from various forum members.

I still think that Vauxhall / Opel are going to be very busy over the next few years. Please update this post with your experiences and findings so that if there ever is a recall (Don't think for one Minute there will be) we can all get word of it

I have a 1.4T 150bhp (66plate).
The oil was replaced with Dexos1 Gen2 oil at 2000miles and so far there have been no issues, but it's only got around 5800 on the clock so there's plenty of time for problems to develop. I only do around 10,000 a year so I could start seeing issues in the next 6 to 12months!

To be honest I'm not too bothered if the engine goes as long as VX do the right thing in resolving the issue, but if they drag their feet, deny the problem or give me the run around (as they did for many months with an Astra J a few years back) then I'll never buy Vx again.

you mean to say that you've never had any problems with the new or the old oil? maybe there's a lot of drivers who never even had the problem with their engine. I'm wondering what % of cars with these engines has this problem

This is my philosophy on the troublesome 1.4T block. One wonders if the all alloy construction is at least partly to blame due to the compression?

Anyway, I'm probably jinxing it now, but mine's still appears to be running quiet and smooth since getting it in March 2016 and it's now covered 9500 miles. I have experienced a couple of instances of LPSI due to me being used to driving a 1.6T ECOTEC previously which just pulled from any revs without issues (it just used to emit a low growl as it picked up if I got it in the wrong gear)

Do I think this engine has problems? Yes
Will it affect everyone? Probably not
If I still have this car after its warranty runs out, will I extend the warranty? Yes

Never had problem (in beginning, learning my new car I had some minor holes when pushing too hard at low motor speed, now I know better and better my car and its engine).
Manual gear box, 1.4T 125
I have 4 years full warranty.

I hope I did not have any minor piston damadged, and bad things happend after 4 years warranty at my costs.

driving an auto it seems ok even though dealer insists on using dexos 2 for now.
