I live in Spain and have owned a 2016 Astra from new without a single fault until yesterday. Pressed start button - nothing happened- and steering locked. Service steering column lock message on screen. Car trailered to main dealer who tell me a module needs replacing at a cost of 760 euros and will have to wait atleast20 days to get one. Is this a total rip off or what?

Sounds normal to me in these strange times we’re all living through , getting stable supplies of anything from walkers crisps & diced steak is now a mission so I’d expect the lines of car parts distribution to be suffering from lack of deliveries on time. Sea containers are another thing that’s in short supply , if you want one forget it & if you could source one their now over £3000 for a well used container. As for the cost of the part , it’s probably about right for a genuine part.
