What is the actual fault code ? (preferably full code with symptom byte) and which engine type

That's a code for implausible correlation between the two accelerator pedal sensors,it's a Type A code so will reset when you cycle the ignition
it can be caused by a problem with the wiring to any one or more of the pedal connections,(low references (earths),signal 1 or 2 or the 2 X 5v feeds.) or even the ECM, tbh it's rarely the pedal that's the problem.
Do you know if he did any testing before condemning the pedal ?

Not sure if you want to try and sort this yourself or not Darren,a dmm with a wiring diagram would get you in the right direction,
but a good scanner running something like gds2 would really help,other than that you may need to find a good auto electrician or vx specialist in your area,playing parts darts by throwing new parts at the car gets expensive really quickly.
