Developed over the course of nearly five years, the seats feature breathable surface fabrics, lighter perforated polyurethane foams and ultra-high-strength steel frames. The changes help to enable the front seats to weigh approximately 10 kg (22 lbs) less than the previous units.
Speaking of the front seats, the driver's seat offers 65mm of height adjustment which is the most in the Astra's segment. Vauxhall says this ensures shorter drivers are "guaranteed an optimum seating position.

Rear seat passengers aren't left out either as the company says the rear seats have optimized contouring and a steeper tilt that provides better thigh support.

While Vauxhall contends the standard front seats are pretty comfortable, customers can order 18-way power adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation and massage functions. Other highlights include four-way adjustable lumbar support and electro-pneumatically adjustable side bolsters.

In a statement, Vauxhall's Vice President Vehicle Engineering said "Seating is among the most important elements in a vehicle as it delivers safety, comfort, and design. It is one of the reasons we place such a high priority - with the support of our partners - on the development of our seating systems."

the new seats suck! well when i went to the showroom, they put me off.
my astra j's half leather seats are so much better, as the new seats can rip when you scrape something against them.
the back also feels smaller when 3 people are at the back compared to the astra j.
